For Expert Volunteers
How much time do I need to commit?
You choose. Assignments range from:
2–5 hours – Virtual mentorship or document review
1–2 weeks – Short on-site or hybrid assignments
2–12 weeks – Extended assignments with deeper engagement
You control your availability and can accept or decline assignments as they come.
What if I can't travel?
You can participate exclusively through virtual assignments – offering advisory sessions, document reviews, or remote training via Zoom, phone, or email. No travel required.
What if I have health concerns or limited mobility?
Your health and safety are our priority. We will work with you to find assignments that suit your needs and capabilities. Many of our volunteers participate exclusively from home.
What kind of assignments will I get?
Assignments are matched to your skills and preferences. Examples include: Financial management reviews and improvements; Staff training and capacity building; Operational and process improvement; Compliance and safety guidance; Business planning and strategy support; Marketing and sales mentorship
How does the matching process work?
We use Assisted Matching – a combination of human judgment and technology.

You receive the assignment details and decide if you want to accept
A human is always in the loop to ensure quality placements.
How do I apply?

Our joint CEEC-CSRNZ team reviews your application
If approved, you will receive login credentials to the matching platform
Start receiving assignment opportunities
How long does the application process take?
Our joint vetting team aims to review applications within 7–10 working days. You will be notified of the outcome via email.
Will my personal information be protected?
Yes. We take data privacy seriously. Your information is stored securely and shared only with host SMEs for the purpose of matching – and only with your consent.
You can request access, correction, or deletion of your data at any time.
Can I update my availability or preferences later?
Absolutely. You can update your availability, preferences, and profile at any time through your account on the matching platform.
Do I need to upload my CV?
Yes. Your CV is essential for the vetting process. It helps us understand your expertise, experience, and qualifications so we can match you effectively.
What if I don't have an updated CV?
We recommend preparing a brief summary of your career, including:
- Employment history
- Qualifications
- Key skills and competencies
- Professional memberships
- Languages spoken
You can always upload a more detailed version later.
For SMEs
Who can request an expert?
Any Zambian SME can request support.
Priority is given to: CEEC loan recipients SMEs that supply or aspire to supply mining companies and large corporates
Women and youth-owned enterprises
How much does it cost?
The expert's time is free. However, host SMEs are expected to contribute to local costs (travel, accommodation, meals) where applicable – either in cash or in-kind.
For very poor but promising SMEs, sponsors may cover these costs.
What if I can't afford the local costs?
In some cases, sponsors may fully cover the costs. We will work with you to find a solution. No SME should miss out on support due to financial constraints.
What kind of support can I get?

How long does an assignment last?
Assignments are short-term and flexible – from 2 days to 12 weeks, depending on your needs and the expert's availability.
How do I request an expert?
