What is the EVD?
The Expert Volunteer Database (EVD) is a structured, technology-enabled platform that connects experienced retired or near-retirement Zambian professionals with Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in need of practical, hands-on mentorship.
The EVD is a flagship initiative under the partnership between the Citizens Economic Empowerment Commission (CEEC) and CSR Network Zambia (CSRNZ) .By matching seasoned experts with growing businesses, we transfer critical skills, strengthen enterprises, and contribute to Zambia's economic development.
The Citizens Economic Empowerment Commission (CEEC) is a statutory body established under the Citizens Economic Empowerment Act No. 9 of 2006. CEEC is tasked with promoting citizen ownership and participation in the economy, encouraging responsible business conduct, and supporting enterprises in contributing to community development. bTogether, we are building a more inclusive and prosperous Zambia.
CSR Network Zambia (CSRNZ) is a national platform formed in 2019 to promote responsible business practices that create shared value and contribute to sustainable development. CSRNZ brings together companies, civil society, and government institutions to advance responsible business in Zambia.
Why?
The Challenge:
Zambian SMEs face persistent technical and managerial gaps in areas such as finance, operations, marketing, agronomy, and engineering. They lack affordable access to experienced professionals who can provide practical solutions. At the same time, a significant pool of retired and near-retirement Zambian professionals holds decades of valuable expertise that remains untapped.
The Solution:
The EVD bridges this gap. We create structured, short-term volunteer assignments that allow experts to share their knowledge while helping SMEs grow, create jobs, and contribute to the economy.
